Q. What is an ‘aggregator’ and how do I find one?
A: An Aggregator, or 3rd party, is an organisation that has become accredited to undertake a type of energy savings project and offers a service to their clients to create certificates on their behalf. The Aggregator is responsible for all compliance with the Energy Savings Scheme and normally has the capacity to implement the projects as well.
By participating through an Aggregator, a business or householder can receive a benefit from the Energy Savings Scheme without the compliance obligations.
A supplier, installer or service provider can be the Aggregator. The term aggregator refers to how they “aggregate” the savings from a number of clients to make it feasible for them and their clients to participate in the ESS.
Please check the List of Accredited Certificate Providers which is updated on a weekly basis.
Q. Why do showerhead and lighting installers take away the old equipment?
A: This is part of the requirements of the scheme to ensure that the older and less efficient products do not go back into circulation.
