In order to apply for accreditation, a project proponent needs to:
- establish that their project is eligible,
- establish that they are the Energy Saver,
- decide which calculation method to apply,
- generate spreadsheets for the calculation of ESCs from the project relating to the method, and
- develop record keeping arrangements adequate for the size and scale of the project.
In considering the points listed above, project proponents should contact the Scheme Adminsitrator (IPART) for more detailed guidance on the preparation of their applications.
Once these steps have been completed, the project proponent should complete the application form and the appropriate Attachment relating to the proposed ESC creation method.
Potential applicants should be aware that applications lodged prior to 31 December 2009 may, once accredited, claim ESCs for Recognised Energy Savings Activities (RESAs) that occurred from 1 July 2009 onwards.
It is important to note that any activities that take place prior to accreditation are at the risk of the applicant. That is, the Scheme Administrator, in considering the application for accreditation, will determine whether the RESAs have been conducted in accordance with the Act, Regulation and Rule.
In particular, applicants should take care that to establish their credentials as the Energy Saver or nominated Energy Saver and should ensure that any installations are carried out in accordance with the scheme requirements.

Application Fee
Detailed development of applications requires all application requirements as described in the ESS Application Guide be completed in the ESS Application Form and must include lodgement of the application fee.
The Application Fee for an accreditation is $500. Details on how to pay the application fee are outlined in the ESS Application Guide. Payment can be made by electronic funds transfer (preferred method) or cheque. Please note credit card payments can not be accepted.
Applications are not considered as accepted by the Scheme Administrator until the application fee has been lodged. Under the ESS Rule, the date of application also becomes the first date from which eligible ESCs can be created from a project once it is accredited by IPART.
