The Registry is not a trading platform.
Trading of energy savings certificates (ESCs) occurs outside of the Registry. When such a trade occurs, the change in ownership of those certificates must be recorded in the ESS Registry.
Current and past ownership of ESCs is recorded in the ESS Registry. All changes of ownership must be recorded in the Registry by transferring certificates to the new owner.
For all transfers, the seller initiates the transfer by offering the certificates to a buyer.
The buyer decides to accept or reject the offer of transfer.
A transfer can be cancelled by either party prior to completion of the transfer.
A transfer must be completed by both the seller and buyer within 60 calendar days. The offer of transfer will be automatically cancelled after 60 days if not accepted.
There is no Registry fee or stamp duty charged for transferring certificates.
